Assuming the initial launch angle was 45° and neglecting air resistance, determine (a) the initial speed of the projectile and (b) the total time the projectile was in flight, (c) Qualitatively, how would the answers change if the launch angle were greater than 45°? Explain.

When the projectile returns to the level from which it was launched, the vertical component of the velocity is

• v0y is the vertical component of the initial velocity

The total time of flight is found from the relation, vy=v0y+ayt .

Substitute v0y for vy and g for ay .
