Introduction

Sensation and perception are, in many respects, two sides of the same coin. Sensation is best described as the physical recognition of stimuli by the body, while perception is the brain's attempt to make sense of the many sensations being sent to it. Is the temperature too low? Thank the neuroreceptors in your body for sensing that. Did you turn up the heat of put on a sweater? Thank your brain for perceiving that cold is a problem and something needs to be done about it.
