Answer to Problem 1TYC

Variation and more successfully reproducing individual that pass favorable trait from one generation to other in present world gives the examples of natural selection.

Explanation of Solution

Darwin proposed that the process of natural selection was the cause of evolution in species. He explained that the different species were able to survive the nature’s harsh conditions and limited resources due to adaptations. The species that were successful to survive were selected by the nature. The nature selected adaptive trait is then passed on to the offspring that helped a species to survive and show adaptive radiation according to different habitats

By natural selection those species survive that have acquired the trait which helps the species in survival by adaptation of any type like body parts. The size of a population is affected by the limited resources and environmental conditions. Nature selects the traits that help a population to adapt and survive.

The work of natural selection is visible all around us. The logic that explains the natural selection is:

Natural selection suggests that in a population more number of individuals are born than the number of individual that survive to reproduce and thus more number of young produced explains natural selection. Natural selection also explains the variability that occurs among population, variation among population affects the survival rate and reproductive success.

If all these explanations are true, then only that individual will be favored by nature that has favorable traits and could pass genes for these traits from one generation to another more successfully. The passed on traits become more evolved to become more superior in future generations by natural selection.
