Question
Chapter 3, Problem 3.9PP
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The difference between the name of a nonmetal atom and its anion.
Introduction:
Nonmetals are defined as elements that do not display the properties of metals. The nonmetals are mostly located on the right hand side of the periodic table. Hydrogen is the exception which behaves as a nonmetal at room temperature and pressure. At high pressure, hydrogen behaves as an alkali metal.
The anion of a nonmetal is formed when one or more electrons are added to the nonmetals.
