Expert Solution
Step 1

Solder is a fusible metal alloy with melting range of 90 to 450 degree centigrade which is used in the process called soldering to join the two metallic surfaces. It is mostly used in plumbing and electronics.

The most commonly used solders are:

1. Soft solders

Soft solders have the melting point below 400 degree centigrade. This solder is made of different combinations of tin, lead and other metals.

The most popular combination is 60% tin, 39% lead and 1% alloy. Another common composition is 11% tin, 37% lead, 42% bismuth and 10% cadmium.
