Concept introduction: Liver is one of the cardinal organs in the human body. It is mainly involved in fat metabolism. Other than fat metabolism, there are several major functions associated with liver cells such as the production of albumin, a protein seen in the blood plasma is one among them. Excessive use of alcohol will seriously affect the normal functioning of liver. If it does not produce albumin in an enough quantity, it will lead to edema, a condition, which is characterized by the excess fluid accumulation in the body tissues.
