Explanation of Solution

The basic classification system of fractures includes the open or closed and complete or incomplete fractures. A complete fracture consists of bone that is broken and the fragments are separate. An incomplete fracture includes the partially joined bone fragments. These fractures are classified into open or closed fractures based on their relationship with the environment. An open fracture refers to the condition when the bone breaks through the skin and underlying soft tissue. A closed type of fracture includes a break in the bone but there is no open wound in the skin because the skin is not punctured.
