Explanation

El Niño is the flow of warm tropical waters from the east as counter currents replacing the normal cold coastal currents. Usually, cold Humboldt current flows equatorward along the coasts of Ecuador, Chile, and Peru. This current upwells the nutrient-rich cold water along the coast. But during El Niño, due to warm waters, upwelling does not occur, and hence fishing stands still. This El Niño usually lasts for 2 months in November and December, but occasionally it lasts for many months.

The cold currents restrict the cloud formation, except the coastal fogs. Hence, normally, clouds occur over warm waters in the western Pacific, but not over the cold waters of the eastern Pacific...
