The conventional system by Linnaeaus has been used for more than 250 years but new techniques and appreciation of making phylogenetically relevant classification is presenting a challenge. I have provided some articles for background you can read for each classification (Linneaus article attached to this discussion and the Rieppel article and Nixon article on Phylocode can be found in this weeks module). What are the strengths and weaknesses of these classification schemes? Do you see this as a paradigm shift? You are encouraged to find outside sources and make arguments for or against what you view as the best and worst classification system.
