Chapter 4, Problem 1RP
Summary Introduction

Case summary:

Person X was excited and nervous about the mental health clinical rotation. As she was new, the other staffs were helpful and have been cooperative to her to a greater extent. She started her training in developing nurse-patient relationship.

Patient CR, a 17-year-old girl, was admitted in the unit for attempting suicide. As she was unable to speak English properly, other nurses asked Person X to speak with her because she knew Spanish. While speaking with her, Person X found that she did not like to live with her sister. It is because her sister used to abuse her and kept on reminding her about the sacrifices she made for her.

As her mom passed away recently, Patient CR had to live with her sister. Her sister always reminded her about the things she got for her, so that she could repay her back later.

Unfortunately, she was not considered as an adult; so, legally it is necessary for her sister to be consulted with. As she is unwilling to go back to her sister’s house, she would be taken to a foster home. However, they can only take care of her until she turns 18, that is, only till the end of this month as she will be 18 by that time. She was not ready for such a radical change.
