Summary Introduction

Introduction

Automatic processes are the processes that have the capability of happening without any need for attention to or the awareness of the initiation or operation of the process. They do not interfere with other concurrent thoughts. Many trials of practice that result in automatic processing happen without intention and at the cost of only some of the cognitive resources of a person. However, automatic processing tends to be difficult when the tasks to be performed are hard. Attention is possible for well-practiced tasks.
