Beam CD is simply supported at C and D.
1. Compute the maximum bending stress of beam CD.
2. By investigation, the beam CD has an allowable bending stress, Fb = 94MPa. To strengthen the beam, 2 cover plates of 10 mm thick are to beadded on the top and bottom flanges as shown in Figure ST - 903.
3. Compute the required width of the cover plates.
