The force along x direction is,

Fx=AC

The difference is taken because the directions of both the vectors are opposite.

Substitute 70.0 N for C and 40.0 for A to get Fx .

Fx=(40.0N)(70.0N)=30.0N (I)

The magnitude of Fx is 30.0N and the direction is along the west.

The force along x direction is,

Fy=BD

The difference is taken because the directions of both the vectors are opposite
