Summary Introduction

Introduction: Most birds and mammals are endotherms, which maintain their body temperature within a narrower range and have a higher metabolic rate. Metabolic heat produced allows endotherms to be active in a wider range of temperatures than ectotherms. Ectotherms are animals whose body temperature varies with that of its environment; it adjusts its internal temperature by altering its behaviour.
