Concept explainers
Draw an objective tree for the following: If you drive in the state of Florida, you may notice some traffic congestion when crews trim trees on the state roads and freeways. Assume that the Florida Department of Transportation is the client. Usually, branches 6 inches or less in diameter are trimmed. The allowable horizontal distance from the edge of the road to the branches is 6 feet. The material removed from the trees must be collected and removed from the roadside. To reduce the cost of trimming, a maximum of only two workers can be assigned for each machine. The overall cost, which includes equipment and labor must be reduced by at least 25% from present cost. The state claims that the demand for your machines will follow the price reduction—that is, if you are able to reduce the cost by 40%, the demand will increase by 40%. Allowable working hours depend on the daylight and weather conditions.

- In February of 2010, architects and consulting engineers all over Bastonia, were seeking out any available defense attorneys with experience in criminal law. These activities were brought on by subpoenas issued by the Attorney General of Bastonia Jose Paleri, who was looking into charges of bribes and kickbacks given to elected statesmen by engineers working in the construction industry. The subpoenas required the engineers to submit the records of their firms to the office of Attorney General of Bastonia. Leonardo Marsiano, who was a partner of Marsiano and Associates Inc.., was one of these engineers. The susequent events were highly published by Baskonia press and finally led to the resignation anddisgrace of Santana Spirola when he was the Minister of Public Works in Baskonia.Leonardo Marsiano was an engineer trained at a prestigious university. Eventhough his firm was doing well, in case of big public-work contracts, they werecontinuously losing to other firms. In Baskonia,…arrow_forwardYou are tasked with designing the runway on an aircraft carrier. The minimum speed for the F/A-18 Hornet is 193.8 mph.
