Question
Chapter 44, Problem 5SA
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Ozone is a molecule that consists of three oxygen atoms, and it remains only in a significant amount in the atmosphere. Ozone molecule is formed when the UV radiation interacts with sunlight and oxygen molecules. In the higher altitudes, most of the ozone is produced due to the high intensity of UV radiation. The ozone layer of the earth is important because it absorbs UV radiation which is harmful to all the living organisms. Depletion of the ozone layer or the formation of ozone hole is caused by chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other halogenated ozone depleting substances (ODS).
