Chapter 44.2, Problem 1TYK
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

A community is a group of species existing in the similar habitat or having a particularly common feature. Community is also termed as a biological community. For example, soil containing fungi and bacteria, a forest of trees, etc. A community is seen as stable when little to no change is deducted in the number of species and their abundance over a given period. The community then be said to be in equilibrium.

True or false? Grasslands are quick to develop into a climax community.
Which one of the following statements is FALSE?   Beta diversity is low when two ecosystems share the similar species and respective abundance.   An intelligent meander records date, time, location and a list of species.   Beta diversity or differentiation diversity compares alpha diversity among several communities.   Species richness is the total species abundance in an ecosystem.   Inventory diversity can be defined by alpha diversity, which is the number of species in a local forest stand.
In this class, we have discussed how populations form communities to create ecosystems and learn that comparing different communities could be done simply by determining species richness or species diversity.  But to fully explore an ecosystem, we have to discuss the major components of its biodiversity.  What are the major components of biodiversity and what is the importance of biodiversity?
