Introduction:

The regulation of BP is very important. Change in BP can directly affect heartbeat and stroke volume. The regulation of BP is important for example, at the time of exercise addition supply of oxygen required by the skeletal muscles and in order to achieve that blood supply to muscles increases and blood delivery to digestive organs decreases.

Explanation

The regulation of the BP is co-ordinated by the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system. Three main mechanisms are as follows:

1. Controlling the cardiac output: The baroreceptors are present in the cardiac muscles and the carotid arteries. Baroreceptors send the signal to the medulla within the brain stem and in, response brain stem send the signal via autonomous nervous system and adjust the heart rate. The chemoreceptors are present in the aorta as well as carotid arteries detect the oxygen content of the blood and maintain it.
