What processes specifically cause each characteristic of theinflammatory response?

Summary Introduction

To review:

The processes that lead to each characteristic of the inflammatory response.

A tissue injury due to infection, burns, irritating chemicals, or physical trauma triggers series of events, which are collectively called the inflammatory response or inflammation. These events prevent the damage from spreading, help in disposal of cellular debris and pathogens, and also set the stage for tissue-repair mechanisms.

The injured tissues release chemicals that are called inflammation mediators or inflammation-mediating molecules. These are responsible for increasing vascular permeability and triggering vasodilation. These factors increase the blood flow and the fluid moves out of the blood vessels. One of the most common chemical inflammatory mediators is histamine. It is stored in the basophil granules and mast cells and is released as soon as the tissue is injured.

The four outward signs that start when a tissue is injured or infected are described below:

1. Redness: Vasodilation during inflammatory response brings more blood to the injured/damaged area making it red.

2. Warmth or heat: Vasodilation and more blood in the affected area also lead to an increase in temperature...
