The three conversion factors used to convert the mass of a compound into atoms of that element are,

  • Mass of 1mol of a compound =   molar mass of that compound.
  •  The number of atoms in 1mol of a compound =6.022×1023atoms .
  • The number of atoms of an element = (Moles of the element in 1mol of the compound) × (Molecules of the compound)

Given

Mass of aspirin, C9H8O4=1.00g

Molar mass of aspirin =9C+8H+4O=(9(12)+8(1)+4(16))g/mol=180g/mol

Therefore, moles of aspirin =Massofaspirin×(1molMolarmass)=1g×(1mol180g/mol)=0
