What causes root suck-back or a concave root face?
The causes for root stuck-back or a concave root face.
The root stuck back is caused by surface tension of the molten metal trying to pull itself into a ball. The root face allows a larger molten weld pool to be controlled, but because of the increased size of the molten weld pool, it is not so affected by the surface tension. The root face allows a larger molten metal that can be controlled. Weld pool is not affected by the surface tension because of its increased size
