Explanation of Solution

Using above fact, edge $\overline{AB}$ of the notebook will cut off equal transversal on the parallel lines k , I and m of the notebook paper. That is,

  $\overline{AP}=\overline{PQ}$

From similar argument for the lines I , m and n .

  $\overline{PQ}=\overline{QR}$

From similar argument for the lines m , n and o

  $\overline{QR}=\overline{RS}$

From similar argument for the lines n , o and p

  $\overline{RS}=\overline{SB}$

From the definition, equal segments are congruent.

Therefore, from above argument $\overline{AB}$ is divided into 5 congruent parts.

Hence, from above facts equal segments are congruent proves that $\overline{AB}$ is divided into 5 congruent parts.
