Explanation

The primary difference between the automatic traction control(ATC) system and automatic stability control(ASC) system is ATC controls traction at the wheels by applying brakes at the required wheels for stability of vehicle, in ASC system steering is controlled by applying brakes at required wheels for stability of the vehicle.

ASC system overesteer and understeer of the vehicle by applying brakes at required wheels based on the difference between the drivers intended angle (steering angle) to the vehicle actual direction(by monitoring lateral acceleration, yaw, and individual wheel speeds). The ESC control compares both angles, if there is any difference then the control unit modulates the front/rear wheel speeds and power output from engine. This system does not depend on the traction.

ATC system traction is monitored with wheel speeds, if the wheel speed and traction does not match the TC unit activates and applies brakes to the corresponding wheels to control the slip of the wheels. Useful when driving on slipary surfaces during acceleration of vehicles.
