Interpretation:

A vessel contains nitrogen (N2) and water vapor (H2O) under 2.015 atm pressure. The partial pressure of the water vapor, when the partial pressure of nitrogen gas is 1.908 atm should be calculated.

Concept Introduction:

The partial pressure of water vapor can be calculated using Dalton’s law of partial pressures.

According to Dalton’s law, the total pressure of the mixture of gases is equal to the sum of partial pressures of the individual gas.

PT=P1+P2+.....+Pn.

Where,

PT= Total Pressure of the mixture.

P1, P2 and Pn are pressure of each individual gas present in the mixture.
