Nipple pain is common in breastfeeding. Women should be counseled to:

1. a. Get used to it; it will eventually go away.
2. b. Use antibiotic creams to prevent mastitis.
3. c. See a lactation consultant for proper positioning of the infant at the breast.
4. d. Use a pump instead of having the infant at the breast until the pain goes away.
