Concept Introduction: When base and acid quantitatively react with each other, then the chemical reaction is called as neutralization reaction. In this type of reactions, there is no excess presence of hydrogen or hydroxide ion present in the solution.

When molecules present on the reactant side are equal to the molecules present on the product side. Then the chemical equation is called as balanced chemical equation.

Explanation of Solution

To write: The name of acid and base used in aqueous solution that is used in the formation of following salts in formula equation are as follows.

a) Potassium perchlorate=Acid used is perchloric acid and based used is potassium carbonate.

  1. b) Cesium nitrate=Acid used is nitric acid and base used is cesium hydroxide
  2. c) Calcium iodide=Acid used is hydroiodic acid and base used is calcium hydroxide.

The following are examples of neutralization reaction where acid and base quantitatively reacts with each other and the product is formed,

  1. a)  

Potassium perchlorate: The reaction between perchloric acid ( HClO4 ) as acid reactant and potassium carbonate ( K2CO3 ) as base results in the formation of perchloric acid.

The chemical reaction of this product can be given as,

              HClO4(aq)+K2CO3(aq)H2O(l)+KClO4(aq)(acid)(base)

  1. b)  

Cesium Nitrate: The product cesium nitrate can be obtained when nitric acid is used as acid reagent and cesium hydroxide is used as base reagent.

The chemical reaction of this product can be given as,

       HNO3(aq)+CsOH(aq)CsNO3(aq)+H2O(l)(acid)(base)

  1. c)  

Calcium Iodide: The reaction between as hydroiodic acid as acid reagent and calcium hydroxide as base results in the formation of calcium iodide as product.

The chemical reaction of this product can be given as,

      HI(aq)+Ca(OH)2(aq)CaI2(aq)+H2O(l)(acid)(base)
