Mathematical Excursions (MindTap Course List)Factorial Primes A prime number of the form. n ! ± 1 . is called a factorial prime. Recall that the notation n ! is called n factorial and represents the product of all natural numbers from 1 to n . For example, 4 ! = 4 ⋅ 3 ⋅ 2 ⋅ 1 = 24. Factorial primes are of interest to mathematicians because they often signal the end or the beginning of a lengthy string of consecutive composite numbers. See the Excursion on page 336. Find the smallest value of n such that n ! + 1 and n ! − 1 are twin primes. Find the smallest value of n for which n ! + 1 is a composite number and n ! − 1 is a prime number.BuyFind*launch*
