Introduction:

The anion gap can be calculated by various individual medical laboratory tests. It is denoted by the abbreviation ‘AG or AGAP’. This is the difference between the particular cations and anions present in the plasma, serum, or urine. It basically gives an idea about the cause of metabolic acidosis.
