Introduction:

The relation between the partial pressure of oxygen and oxygen saturation is depicted in the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve. The partial pressure of oxygen is represented on the x-axis and the oxygen saturation is shown on the y-axis. The P50 (partial pressure at which the hemoglobin remains 50% saturated with oxygen) value is taken as the reference point in the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve.
