Which dots corresponds to the terrestrial planets and which to the Jovian planets from given table.

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark

Answer to Problem 1VSC

A, B, C, D, E, F corresponds to terrestrial planets while G, H corresponds to Jovian planets.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Terrestrial planets are comprised of metals and rocks.

Jovian planets are comprised of ice.

Terrestrial planets are found nearer to the sun and has smaller size while Jovian planets are found away from the sun and has larger size. So, from table 7.1 , it is clear that

  RH>RG>RC, D>RA, B

So, ABC, DE, F are terrestrial planets while G and H are Jovian.

Conclusion:

Jovian planets are larger in size than terrestrial planets.
