Explanation

A monosaccharide is a type of carbohydrate that contain two or more than two hydroxyl groups along with an aldehyde unit or a ketone unit,both cannot be present.  It will not undergo hydrolysis because it is the simplest form of sugar and cannot be further reduced.  Monosaccharides are generally called sugars.  If an aldehyde group is present, it is called aldose.
