Given Information:

The kitchen ratio of ingredients for cranberry salad is 8:4:4:2:2:1 of fresh cranberries, Tokay grapes, sugar, pineapple, whipped cream and walnut. Each serving is 1.5 cup. The required amount of serving is 35.

Formula Used:

If in a variation two quantities changes in such a way that if one quantity increases, another one also increases so that their ratio remain constant, is called proportion variation or direct relation

For two quantity x and y the direct relation is;

x1y1=x2y2

Calculation:

Consider that the kitchen ratio of ingredients for cranberry salad is 8:4:4:2:2:1 of fresh cranberries, Tokay grapes, sugar, pineapple, whipped cream and walnut. Each serving is 1.5 cup.

Since 35 servings of cranberry salad is needed and each serving is 1.5 cup therefore the amount of cranberry salad is;

35×1.5 cup=52.5 cup

Therefore 52.5 cup of cranberry salad is needed in the ratio of 8:4:4:2:2:1.

Let number of cups of walnut is x. so,

x= the number of cups of walnut8x=the number of cups of fresh cranberries4x=the number of cups of tokay grapes4x=the number of cups of suger

And,

2x=the number of cups of  pineapple2x=the number of cups of whipped cream

The total amount of ingredient is;

x+8x+4x+4x+2x+2x=52
