Modeling Data The hydraulic cylinder on a woodsplitter has a 4-inch bore (diameter) and a stroke of 2 feet. The hydraulic pump creates a maximum pressure of 2000 pounds per square inch. Therefore, the maximum force created by the cylinder is
(a) Find the work done through one extension of the cylinder, given that the maximum force is required.
(b) The force exerted in splitting a piece of wood is variable. Measurements of the force obtained in splitting a piece of wood are shown in the table. The variable x measures the extension of the cylinder in feet, and F is the force in pounds. Use the regression capabilities of a graphing utility to find a fourth-degree polynomial model for the data. Plot the data and graph the model.

Find the dimension that yield the maximum amount area for the pasture.arrow_forwardDensity of copper is 8.96 g/cm3 and density of zinc is 7.14 g/cm3. Brass is an alloymade of copper and zinc. You are given a sample of brass with the density of 8.32g/cm3. The price of zinc is $1.80/kg and price of copper is $6.13/kg. Determine thematerial cost for making one ton of the brass sample that you have.arrow_forward

What should this radius be(rounded to two decimal places) if the total volume is to be500p/3 m3?arrow_forwardMinimum painting surface A metal cistern in the shape ofa right circular cylinder with volume V = 50 m3 needs to bepainted each year to reduce corrosion. The paint is applied onlyto surfaces exposed to the elements (the outside cylinder wall andthe circular top). Find the dimensions r and h of the cylinder thatminimize the area of the painted surfaces.arrow_forward
- Ram a farmer, managed to grow shaped-watermelons inside glass cases ofdifferent shapes. The shapes he used were: a perfect cube, hemi-spherical, cuboid, cylindrical along with the normal spherical shaped watermelons. Thickness of the skin was same for all the shapes. Each of the glass cases was so designed that the total volume and the weight of the all the water-melons would be equal irrespective of the shape. A customer wants to buy water-melon for making juice, for which the skin of the watermelon has to be peeled off, and therefore is a waste. Which shape should the customerbuy?arrow_forwardCalculus 11th Edition - Ron Larson Chapter 3.9 - Differentials Volume & Surface area - please explain all steps.arrow_forwardSolving using Operator D Methodarrow_forward
