Explanation of Solution

Every planned location for a project although having all favorable factors could face potential roadblocks from its local resident. NIMBY is a lack of acceptance of a new facility by local residents citing the environmental sustainability of the project. It may be a grass-root political effort to block the planned location of a facility by local area residents. In such cases, people oppose development in their vicinity while they may not necessarily be against similar development elsewhere. Sometimes people are against the potentially hazardous impact on the local environment due to industrial waste, change in the scenic landscape of the area, potential demographic change due to the new facility, etc. Factories, shopping malls, mental health facilities, highways, wind turbines, prisons, etc are all examples of new facilities whose potential location might create a substantial NIMBY problem.

Because of this NIMBY argument, a most prime location for a project may not be viable and will have productivity issues. The project will have to compromise on productivity when the secondary location is finalized or the project may not be implemented itself.
