Textbook Question
Chapter 8, Problem 1RCQ

Which part of an atom is positively charged, anti which part is negatively charged?

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine
Which part of the nucleus is positively charged and which part is negatively charge.

Answer to Problem 1RCQ

Nucleus is positively charge and the surrounding electrons are negatively charged.

Explanation of Solution

The central part of the atom, the nucleus which has all most all the mass of the atom but has a very small space covered inside the atom contains protons which is positively charged particles. The nucleus in the atom is positively charged.

Around the nucleus negatively charged electrons revolve. The number of electron is same as the number of proton inside the nucleus. These revolving electrons are negatively charged inside the atom.

Conclusion: Nucleus is positively charge and the surrounding electrons are negatively charged.
