Introduction:

The atmospheric pressure is also known as barometric pressure. There are certain events that regulate the breathing in individuals. The peripheral chemoreceptors get stimulated, initially, because of the increase in the elevation, which decreases the pressure of oxygen in the body.

Explanation

The barometric pressure and atmospheric PO2, both, decrease progressively with elevation. The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere remains the same as 21%, and does not decrease with the change in altitude
