Concept introduction:

The ionic compounds are highly soluble in water and dissociate into the water to give its ions. Thus, they are good conductors of electricity and are classified as electrolytes. The molecular compounds are neutral and do not dissociate into ions when dissolved in water. Very few of molecular compounds produce the ions when dissolved in water.
