Answer to Problem 1QAP

The statement is False.

Explanation of Solution

Asteroid is a metallic or rocky object that is orbiting around the Sun like other plants but it is smaller than the planets and they show no evidence of atmosphere.

The asteroid belt is the region of solar system where most of the asteroids are located and the main belt is located between Mars and Jupiter. Here, the orbits are mostly stable and this belt extends from 2.2 AU  to 3.3 AU from the Sun.

The orbital period of asteroids located in this region varies from 3.3years to 6years. The main asteroids in this belt are, Ceres, Pallas, Hygeia, and Vesta. Ceres is also a dwarf planet and have large diameter than others.

Conclusion:

Thus, the statement is false as the dwarf planet Ceres lies in the asteroid belt of Jupiter.

Due to the fact that planets emit more infrared radiation than any other type of light, astronomers have the best chance of directly imaging an exoplanet in the infrared part of the spectrum. select one of the following: A) true B) false
