Answer to Problem 1RD

The main regions of the Sun are core, radiation zone, convection zone, photosphere, chromospheres, transition zone, and corona.

Explanation of Solution

The part of the Sun, where the energy is produced is called core. The radius of the core is 200000km. The part of the Sun that emits radiation is called the photosphere. Its radius is about 700000km, and the thickness is only 0.1 percent of radius of the Sun. just above the photosphere is the Sun’s lower atmosphere, called chromospheres. Above this lies a region is called transition region, where the temperature raises dramatically. Above 10,000km, there is a thin, hot upper atmosphere called corona.

Below the photosphere, extending down 200000km, is the convection centre, it is the region where the material of the Sun is in constant convective motion. Radiation zone lies below this region. In radiation zone the solar energy is transported towards the surface by radiation rather than by convection. Below the radiation zone, the Sun’s enormous energy output region core is situated.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the main regions of the Sun are core, radiation zone, convection zone, photosphere, chromospheres, transition zone, and corona.
