Ecosystem refers to a community of organisms that occupy a given area and carry interdependency with one another and with environment, which allows them to survive. There are four basic components of ecosystems.

The first component of ecosystems is abiotic or non-living parts. The life of the ecosystem, plants and animals live here are supported by the abiotic components that provides the elements and compounds from the soil, the groundwater and the atmosphere.

The second component of an ecosystem is the basic producers or autotrophs. Plants are the autotrophs that use solar energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into organic molecules. These organic molecules such as fats, proteins, and carbohydrates produced support the lift of other forms. Apart from plants, some photosynthetic bacteria and the sulfur-dependent organisms that exist at thermal vents on the sea floor also come under autotrophs...
