To determine: The way by which green plants obtain energy.
Introduction: Photosynthesis is a process by which carbon dioxide and water are used to produce glucose molecules by using energy from sunlight. During this process, oxygen gas is evolved. Reactions of the photosynthesis take place in the chloroplast of the plant cell that contains the green pigment chlorophyll.

To determine: The way by which humans obtain energy and carbon.
Introduction: On the basis of nutritional requirements, the organisms are classified into four types, namely “photoautotroph, chemoautotroph, photoheterotroph, and chemoheterotroph”. These major groups are differentiated on the basis of their energy source and carbon source.

- What is converted into biomass in plants, resulting in plant growth? -CO2 from the air -water and soil mineralsarrow_forwardIn a rainforest there are a wide variety of plants. Short plants have broad, flat leaves . Tall plants have small, narrow leaves. What is an advantage of short plants having broad , flat leaves ? to transport nutrients through the plant to prevent water loss from transpiration to obtain energy by breaking bonds in glucose to capture energy used for photosynthesisarrow_forwardHow do plants trap solar energy and form sugars and other biological molecules?arrow_forward
- What structure is used to transport organic molecules from the leaf to other parts of the plant? Why are leaves green? How does a plant increase its biomass What is the function of the photosystemsarrow_forwardA plant uses 54 ATP to build one glucose molecule, but only gets 36 ATP when it breaks the sugar down for energy. Why doesn't the plant run into an energy shortage?arrow_forwardWhy do plants want to minimize respiration and maximize photosynthesis?arrow_forward
- About half the dry weight of a plant's body is carbon. Where do plants get the carbon? From water From sunlight From dead organic matter in the soil From CO2arrow_forwardHow the energy and raw materials can easily diffuse to all parts of plant body?arrow_forwardWhy are plants that consume 30 ATP molecules to produce one molecule of glucose (rather than the usual 18 molecules of ATP per glucose molecule) favored in hot climates but not in cold climates? What role does temperature play?arrow_forward
