The IR spectroscopy contains the absorption information and its analysis in the spectrum form. From the IR spectrum, one can determine the functional groups in a compound.

The absorption of functional groups like NH,OH,CH is in the region of 3300-2700 cm1 in IR spectrum. The region of absorption of functional groups like C=C, C=N is 2140-1990 cm1 .The region of absorption of functional groups like C=O is between 1900 and 1600 cm1 . Here, the carbonyl function group is recognized at peak. This region is known as fingerprint region.
