A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with two and only two sides parallel. The parallel sides of a trapezoid are called bases. The perpendicular line segment joining the two bases is the altitude of the trapezoid. The median of a trapezoid is a line segment joining the midpoints of the non-parallel sides.
