in a lot of the characters, because they have no power due to their instability. Curley can be shown as an example of weakness. He think he’s all big and bad, because his dad owns the ranch. In my opinion, Curley is insecure about himself because of his height. He can never connect with anyone at the ranch, because of his attitude. One way I can demonstrate this, is when Curley got mad at Lennie for laughing. “ Curley stepped over to Lennie like a terrier. “What the hell you laughin’ at ? “ (62).
Although George did kill someone, he did it for many reasons; he killed his friend Lennie, he was the right person to do it, instead of Curley and his mob, George is an innocent man and Curley is to blame for the death of Lennie. George is a short-tempered person, but he's a very good friend towards Lennie: “ We travel together”-George, “Oh, so it's that way”- Curley, “Yea, it's that way”-George (80-82). He states that wherever he goes, Lennie goes as well. It's his job to care and love Lennie, he is
In the novel Of Mice and Men very few characters have power over others, but the ones that do show it throughout the story. Curley being the bossś son has power over everyone in the ranch and no one dares to cross him. Curleyś wife is automatically given power by branching off of curley's power. She also gains power through her own little tricks. George doesn't have much power, but he does have power over Lennie. They all have power that benefits their lives at the ranch. George has had power over
Curley thinks that Lennie is going to be like all the other guys who are tall. Because of his bad experience Curley decides I'm not going to give this guy a chance to pick on me or even over rule me. A good example of this is when Curley goes, "What the hell you laughin' at?" Here he goes overboard. He gets mad at Lennie just because Lennie laughed at him for what he said. He doesn't even give Lennie a chance to explain himself; instead Curley just right away starts to
cook, clean, and care for children. A woman having a job was rare during the Great Depression because most of society believed a woman’s place was in the home. In John Steinbeck’s, Of Mice and Men, many of the characters can be considered sexist. Curley treats his wife as an inferior to him, and she is also
managing all of the gruesome situations everyone was influenced by. She demonstrates this because she is the only female around town, with a despairing relationship involving Curley, and never lived on a ranch. In addition, Curley’s wife is the loneliest because she has no one to associate with, surrounded by men. Her husband Curley, never allows her to communicate with people in town and tries to lock her away from everyone he surrounds himself with. Curley’s wife implies how much she wishes to interact
husband. I can see how that may not seem wrong especially from a boy's point of view. Although Curley’s wife is ignored by many. Being a girl on a ranch full of boy, you are bound to talk to them. Especially when she has nothing else to do. Also Curley her own husband ignores her. This making her feel lonely. Curley’s wife explains to George and Lennie , “Well, I ain’t giving you no trouble. Think I don’t like to talk to somebody ever’ once in awhile? Think I like to stick in that house alla time
on a journey to get their own land and ranch, Meanwhile they are working in a different ranch until they can get the money to buy the land. Curley and Lennie did not get along very well which caused lots of tension between Lennie, George, and Curley. In the ranch they worked in, Lennie shook Curley’s wife and had snapped her neck, after Curley found out Curley, Slim, and George decided to kill Lennie. Lennie and George are two rancher’s which use to live in a town named Weed. Lennie is not very stable
waiting for them to mess up. This is a problem because Lennie isn’t very smart. He already messed up in weed and I can predict that they are going to have problems at that ranch as well. The character Curley is a very important person in this story. He is the son of the boss, and he dislikes Lennie. Curley is a fighter, but he does not like his height. He wants
anyone because of her husband. This shows how women were lonely back then. Thirdly, Curleys wife is kept as property and only allowed to talk to her husband Curley. The quote that shows that she is only allowed to talk to Curley is "I get lonely," she said. "You can talk to people, but I can't talk to nobody but Curley. Else he gets mad. How'd you like not to talk to anybody?” This shows how she is seen to be only Curleys property and it shows how women was kept as property and was seen to be updating
