The Frontier Thesis, also known as the Turner Thesis is an argument written by historian Frederick Jackson Turner in 1893. Frederick Turner was born in Portage, Wisconsin, in 1861. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1884 and would receive his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1890.
