Reflective Paper (Writing Portfolio) As I look back at the knowledge that I have gained from this course and to what I have accomplished in this class, I have discovered many different aspects of myself. One thing I learned is that I have become more of a thinker. I have learned to continuously ask the question "why" on many different levels. I have also learned to identify the different writing style. For me, Writing has always been one of my personal downfalls. I realized that it doesn’t matter

a binder called a writing portfolio. It held all the assignments and essays I had finished in class. The writing portfolio is like a sapling that would grow to become a tree with each new addition of essays added to it. Academic Writing: English 151 was a grueling class that paid off in the long run. It was a difficult class that was insightful into writing well since it taught me the basic mechanics of grammar and English at the same time. It pushed me to the limits of writing at the utmost potential
Portfolio Writing Review and Reflection When I started this class, I never thought I was a “good” writer. Ironically, after this class, I have learned how to be an organized writer and the term “good” is extremely unclear and subjective. From the short stories and questions to the individual essays, each assignment helped me practice and develop my writing skills. Overall, I think my writing has improved and the process of writing, something I often over looked, has immensely helped my writing.

I chose this because I’ve found that it’s the best format to showcase my various projects I’ve done through the History and Communication departments at Western. Previously I’ve worked on a project similar to this for my Communication 350 class but I wanted to be able to build on what I learned to make an online portfolio more suited for career oriented work. I really enjoyed this creative writing class. I have learned a lot about the many different writing styles. This class also helped me to dig deep and write from the depths within instead of just surface writing. Even though
Dear E-Portfolio Reader, Essay 2 was a paper I had wrote on the causes and effects of lying and by listing the pros and cons I was able to provide a clear thought. This paper taught me how to introduce a point, you could see this example in my third paragraph. In my third paragraph I talked about the then presidential candidates and how they were prime examples of the negative affects lying can create. My writing will improve more and more because of the newfound ability to catch the reader's
As shown by my portfolio, my writing has progressed in various ways through this quarter. In some of my first writings, such as early journals and test essays, I didn’t use the compelling adjectives that are able to paint pictures in the reader’s head. As a starting point, I used bland adjectives that would not be able to grab the reader’s attention. For a simple example, I used “good” and “better” in my A Raisin in the Sun essay when I could have wrote more effective words, such as “exceptional”
