Which antacid brand is most effective at neutralizing the excess stomach acid produced during heartburn? My hypothesis was that if Rite Aid’s antacid was added to heartburn acid, then it will turn neutral with less medicine. This was hypothesized because I think that the ingredients were best for neutralizing acid. The hypothesis that was reached was incorrect. The CVS generic brand was able to neutralize stomach acid using the lowest average amount of antacid. Over three trials, it is clear that

commercial antacids on excess amounts of hydrochloric acid in the stomach Gilliam, M., Morton, D., Osornio Padron, J., Simmons, A., Bahle, T. Lab Section Wednesday: 08/31/16 Introduction: If there is a high amount of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, and an antacid is consumed, the antacid will absorb excess acid in the stomach. This reduction of hydrochloric acid is absorbed by antacids that neutralize stomach acid (Vodopich). The purpose of this experiment is to determine how commercial antacids perform

#1: Antacids By Alex Broussard Co-Authors: Kevin McBean, Medgeen Joseph, Annette Elguezabal University of Central Florida March 14, 2015 Introduction: Antacids are popularly used for combating symptoms of an upset stomach [1]. Antacids are comprised of basic compounds, and when ingested, this increases the pH of our stomach acid (through an acid-base neutralization reaction), effectively eradicating pain and discomfort brought on by an excess of acid. All this is grand, but are all antacids made

Introduction Over-the-counter antacids are used to neutralize stomach acid (this eases indigestion and heartburn). (Dailymed) Antacids are used as a buffer for stomach acid. Buffers are solutions that maintain a constant pH- they can do this because they are composed of a weak acid and a weak base. When a strong base is added to the buffer solution, the weak acid gives up its H+ ions, which interact with the OH- ions from the base and neutralize it; and when a strong acid is added to the buffer

Title: Buffering Capacity of Common Antacids including Tums, Generic Tums and Generic Alka Seltzer. Introduction: This experiment is going to test the ability of antacids and how they absorb acid to see which is a better buffer. An antacid neutralizes acid, and this helps the most with heartburn. Heartburn is where stomach acid is regurgitated back into the esophagus, and this causes a burning feeling in the chest (Oxford University Press, 2017). A buffer is a source of hydroxide ions that can absorb
