The Battle of Hastings took place in October of the year 1066. It was fought between the Normans (French) and the Anglo-Saxons (English). Panoramic images have been an idea that has dated back to the beginning of human history, through forms like the Boa tapestry and other paintings that captured the ideas of extended view and openness that a normal image can’t do. However more recently this idea has been used creatively to form 360 otherworldly images. In this project I plan on exploring the use of panorama through history and how it has developed to form more interesting ideas. When you look at a panoramic picture you get a sense
hundred professionally trained soldiers. They prepared carefully for the battle. The Normans had knights on horseback (Calvary) who were skilful fighters. William also was skilful and ambitious, and he was determined to be King of England. In the Bayeux Tapestry, it shows William’s army preparing for battle, embarking huge ships filled with wood and supplies such as wine, weapons, and horses. There are also pictures of the knights in full battle armour riding out to war. William’s men also had better
The Bayeux Tapestry The Bayeux Tapestry (1070-80, Fig. 1) is, in fact, not a tapestry at all. It is a piece of linen cloth embroidered with wool thread, that measures about 200 feet in length and three feet in width. The cloth is embroidered with images, ranging from battle scenes (Fig. 2) to banquets (Fig. 3) to Halley’s Comet (Fig. 4). The colors are muted, including dark blue, yellow, rust red, grey, and green. The proportions are unnatural and there seems to be no care given to liner perspective

English would go downhill after them. One reason why William won the Battle of Hastings was because of his preparation and readiness for the battle. His army were provided with cavalry that were trained to kick, bite and head-butt. This is shown in the Bayeux Tapestry and source 3 where there are soldiers seen fighting on horses. I know that William’s half-brother organised the creation of the tapestry so the information on it is likely to be accurate. This meant William won the Battle of Hastings because
and Harold made a fatal mistake of prematurely entering the Battle of Hastings. William was a better leader because although Harold had the upper hand in the battle and they were losing, William managed to outwit and defeat the English. In the Bayeux Tapestry there is a scene depicting that in the days preceding the
