The art museum I had visited was the Virginia Fine Art Museum, in Richmond. I saw a lot of brilliant work of art. But, there was one particular piece of art that stuck out to me the most, which was the Yang Guifei. This painting was made in 1979 during the Chinese, People’s Republic period. The picture is painted on a hanging scroll with ink and colors on a piece paper. The hanging scroll is about 5’0 feet tall, it has a women painted on it, in all different color such as dark pink, light green,
architect, activist, filmmaker, curator, and China’s most famous artist. WeiWei is unapologetic in his criticism of the Chinese government, which led to him being famously detained for months in 2011, then released to house arrest. Most of WeiWei’s best known works are installations, often leaning towards the conceptual and creating dialogue between the contemporary world and traditional Chinese modes of thought and production. One of WeiWei’s most famous works is his instillation Sunflower Seeds (2010).
Visual art has been highly appreciated and has become popular since the second half of the nineteenth century, during which the public gradually get familiar with the visual art and its applications. In the late nineteenth century, when artists began to utilize distinctive materials and various techniques on their work, there are a lot of innovative works done by masters whose names have been marked ever since. Even though Tibet was considered a dependency to the Qing Dynasty, the Tibetan language stayed completely separate from the Chinese language. At one point in the 19th, due to the Great Game of politics of Central Asia, Tibet closed itself off to foreigners. Fine art restoration involves the repair and conservation of paintings, prints, sculptures and more. Any work of art damaged willfully, through negligence, or simply as a result of time passing typically needs to undergo this process. The goal is to return the object to its original condition or as close as one can possibly get. Experts are needed at this time to ensure further damage isn't done to the piece, as this field is constantly improving and new techniques come into play. We here at Stoetzer
dedicated to the Costume Institute’s exhibition “China: Through the Looking Glass”. The night’s dress code was labeled “Chinese White Tie” according to Vogue, who hosts the annual celebration (Krupnick). Most celebrities attending the event wore simple, Asian inspired apparel; one of the most stunting exceptions was pop singer, Rihanna (Krupnick). Rihanna was styled in an authentic Chinese couture dress designed by Guo Pei, a Beijing based designer (Krupnick; see fig. 3). Rihanna was praised for her dress
curiosity. As a Chinese, tattooees are rare, since people always have prejudice for those body art because of traditional idea and social impact. When I was in high school, I was attracted by tattoos because of a paster that can post on body. I put them on collarbone, arm, and ankle, just like tattoos. But my parent did’t allow me to get a real one and said that would hamper me to get a great job. To be honest, I can’t understand such a traditional thought while I think tattooing is a kind of art. Due to their approach to acquisition of knowledge, certain areas of knowledge such as Art puts more emphasis in describing the world while others focus more on transforming it. All areas of knowledge, including Art, still have both functions of describing and transforming the world and there is no area of knowledge that
