America's Dropping of the Atomic Bomb The bomb was dropped for a number of reasons. I believe that revenge for Pearl harbour coinciding with pressure put on by President Truman to drop the bomb was significant. However many other factors were involved. These included political, military, economic, scientific factors along with Truman wanted to gain retribution for Pearl harbour. These factors along with others gave a number reasons for Truman to drop the bomb.
